Clean water tables have less toxic pesticides

Avoid using toxic bathroom, kitchen and household toxic cleansers by utilizing the baking soda and vinegar approach to almost every household cleaning issue.  Off-gassing and toxic fumes from stringent cleaners can make even the brightest shine dull. Practice diluting baking powder into a paste for a host of household cleaning and upkeep uses.

We all grew up shrugging when it was cleaning time and reaching for the ammonia and bleach. Today, grim realities of the energy and water to clean and re-use existing water supplies from local sewage reclamation are part of our everyday reality. The toxic chemicals everybody has around the house need to transition into a cleaner, greener cleaning cabinet.

There used to be pride in having a strong potion made up of industrial strength chemicals inside the home. Heavy duty chemically laden bathroom cleaners, degreasing solvents, paint thinners, laundry detergents, all stood for consumer richesse. Now we know that pesticides, fungicides, bleaches and detergents rub Nature the wrong way.

That was then. Now we know better, dumping these chemicals into the sewer system taxes our finances and systems. Oven cleaners and harsh garden fertilizers can poison a fresh groundwater table in no time. Disposal of garage chemicals, bathroom and laundry cleaners, bacterial agents and other cleaners is not always safely practiced by all home owners and users.

Toxic treatment of chemical and sewage waste water is one of the biggest environmental crusades happening right now. Transition to softer impact cleaners running into the water supply can increase gray water potential exponentially. Vinegar and baking soda are much less polluting, from one home or thousands.

To clean green, try to avoid using stronger chemicals and pollutant toxins for as many household uses as possible. Use baking soda paste to clean ovens instead of that nostril-clearing toxic foam. Use vinegar when possible as a dilute spray or rinse to clear away bacteria. Vinegar kills 99% of the bad bacterial stuff.  If you have small children, pets, or particular allergies, alternate once a month with the “hard” cleaning materials if you feel you have to.

The washroom is always a place that could go greener. Re-use of cloth diapers is making a comeback. Do only full loads. Try using less detergent, a more green friendly eco-friendly detergent or cleaners. Spot clean when possible, doing an entire load of laundry by rinsing trouble spots or soaking away stains, then straightening the rest of the garment.

Don’t bleach sponges when you can  boil or microwave the bacteria away, in sponges and towels. Save the need for non green cleaners by cleaning right. Eliminate fresh food particles in crevices and dark spaces, rinse cutting boards and air dry dishes whenever possible. Air dry dishes and glasses and silverware when possible, saving dishwasher power and letting Nature do the work.
