Turn off the boob tube this winter and get crafty. Stop using electricity and start a regeneration curve happening. Re-use thrift shop and discard items in utility crafts. Make gifts or just household helps. Assemble discard items in bulk or just work with shapes of tin, glass, aluminum or foil.
The rules of crafting are simple: make whatever you want, however you want, using whatever you want. Get ideas from existing products like garments, jackets, crafts, purses, garden accessories, the sky is the limit. There is no pre-defined function of any one materials use in crafting. Bend your materials to your will.
Search the web to find crafts having to do with whatever material wou find available for free or cheaply. Shop Freecycle with crafting in mind and spare the family budget a meaningless night out in the mall or cinema. Get ideas and reserach potential projects to be ready when the right materials come along.
Use resource networks to source materials. Quantity need have no limit. Let friends and neighbors, co-workers and commuter buddies know you are looking for quantities of cork, paper, tin, whatever the snipe hunt is. Someone may be sitting on a big bunch of stuff you want, but wo’;t mobilize it until a recipient pipes up.
Ask freidns for advice. Borrow specialized labor, one friend might know how to knit, one might know how to sew, one might be able to pick up your stuff and hold it in their Freecycle neghborhood, and someone might be able to contribute advice.
