In sustainable living, getting things green is usually the right way to go. But sometimes, green can be the wrong way to go. This building and its serious water damage along the gutter illustrates not only how crucial gutter repair is, but how critical the timeliness of the repair is before building equity begins to diminish.
The serious danger in the above picture is what an unhealthful workplace environment may be forming in air ducts and vents due to mold. The continuing water drainage to the concrete parking area could feasibly be collected for gray water use if nothing else.
Building materials will not always be ready mix and available at the corner shop. But even worse than the assumption of an ever ready supply of new concrete or stucco, and the chemicals they use, is the careless lack of maintenance. Gutter repair is hardly unobtainable. this unsightly mess will require more paint to cover it up, even after repair.
Just simple adjustments or replacements might help. Sometimes, green is not good.
