The ecosystem of the world around us is a fragile thing. Many of us grew up in a world that had relatively nearby areas of existing marshland and growing green things. But the education we received as children taught us that only institutions and governments make decisions about how these lands were used. In time, many activists looking to preserve a green way of life learned that a lot of energy can be expanded and elected officials could take notice of the public’s concern.
Green living proponents are hardly the wild eyed, long haired and hippy types that some corporate media brands would have the public believe. The direct connection between how sustainably products are made is closer than you might think. Often green activists are members of the public who have had special access to information about sustainable living and no little bit more about what is happening to the environment than the average person. Looking after the planet should hardly be estimated as an extremist position.
Many green activists raise their voice in support of a sustainable living because they have stayed quiet too long. Many green activists have not been long in the movement supporting sustainable living and ecological system health. Sometimes merely the site of the landfill unnecessarily filled with an overage of consumer waste can change people’s minds. People who never thought before about where their garbage goes may start to wonder where will it all end.
At some point a green activist will pursue a sustainable lifestyle. Sustainable living is a commitment to keeping these wild lands and natural resources from eroding forever. This means of consciousness about how the products that we consume every day came into being. This consciousness includes being educated about the toxins and harmful effects of industrial goods production. Not everyone is ready for an education about green living at the same time.
For many people, issues about the environment preservation of natural resources are very far removed from their daily lives. Sustainable living may sound to them like pipe dreams of castles in the air. Green living may seem to those who have not been exposed to the basic ideas of sustained ecological preservation and a sustainable green lifestyle like an elitist club. But those ignorant of the goals of green living activists didn’t realize that they’re voting about these issues every day with their wallet.
For every big ticket consumer item mass produced in a foreign land there is an environmental costs. Shipping, transportation, labor, and possibly unsafe or ecologically unsound manufacturing processes may have gone into producing that unit. Consumers can vote green with their wallets by checking the energy rating and the emissions standards of imported or electronic mass produced products. In this manner, everyone who buys the big screen TV or a new car votes for or against the green movement whether they want to realize it or not.
