The stores finally have some green friendly products that deliver some sustainability on the consumer home front. Sustainability and smart home use of utilities like freezer energy and renewable methods of cleaning, conserving energy and reducing bills have finally come into affordability and neighborhood supply.
One of the golden rules about consuming green food and fruit is to not palpably gum up the works by buying more in one grocery purchasing period than a household can consume. But throwing out spoiled produce is common. Chopping up fruit for a smoothie or putting it in a dessert might need the one more day recaptured.
The product I saw above showed that by placing this item in the fruit bin or drawer of the refrigerator, those fresh melons and apples and pommes de nature might last another day for consumption. This is especially important it when organic produce is concerned because preservatives and chemicals may have shortened its life span.
the Hot Pockets product reflects an idea I had last year when weeks of nonstop record breaking hot temperatures lingered in the triple digits. I had to wait until 4 or 5 in the morning to exercise or take a walk or even get to sleep comfortably. And even then “comfortable” was a relative term.
I got used to rinsing a handkerchief in cold water then freezing it, then tying it around my head. But in triple digit heat, even at 7 a.m. was around 85 degrees and the cloth would dry in less than 20 minutes or less. Hadn’t someone thought of a way out of this? I wondered.
I actually started breaking ice cubes into a baggie then wrapping it around the back of my neck. I looked at my ankle and arms weights and wondered if the Baggie would fit in there. It did, but the velcro chafed and the fabric was not designed for thermal retardance or extension.
I saw the Hot Pockets product and took a second look at the tags. These brightly colored and attractive pouches allow for microwave heating and chilled cooling. A treated product allows the fabric to retain heat or keep the bear/wear cool. This means a small generator can power a microwave and keep the family warm in a power outage.
Since an important tenet of energy re-use is that a filled freezer cools the energy flow requirement for the fridge, these freeze friendly pockets would allows for spot cooling on the body, outdoors via bandanna, and elsewhere.
By allowing consumption friendly cooling and heating, these products are a must for hot and cold weather dwellings, outbuildings, or just when you want to heat or cool one person or one room, not the entire house.
