The Curbing of America has got to stop.
This tendency we have to roll the dice with leaving stuff by the curb, one wonders were it is all going. I like Freecycle better, and just have to assume when I see a site like the one above, the (former) owners have no literacy skills or would rather see a piece of grayish black plastic stewing in 100 degree heat at their curb.
The Freecycle.org website is a place where anyone can list an item like the above one for pickup. The person who needs the above item for whatever purpose can be alerted one is ready for giveaway. There could be 100 practical purposes for the TV or DVD cabinet shown above. I passed it on the street and there was no visible damage.
As a garage storage container this DVD cabinet could have amazing utility. everyone needs a storage container like this in the garage for all the stuff like tools and little containers that need to be stored inside the all-purpose area of the garage is. Little hobby supplies salvaged from other recycling sites can build to project capacity with portability on the flip side.
This storage container could have made a great gardening organizer for some backyard gardening pagoda. Lots of gardening supplies need their own special place for efficient garden tool, chemical, pesticide, seed and trimming tool access. Placing this container high above where little hands can’t reach it might be useful as well.
As a used storage fixture it could serve some other home in this capacity. If it had not been 100 degrees I might knocked and asked them did they know about Freecycle.org. But with fumes of fire in the air and record temperatures I didn’t have the nerve or the energy.
But as a crafts storage closet it works even better whereas another crafts person might have to buy a storage container. These little cabinets could house a lot of supplies and projects difficult to fold up and store away otherwise. Any craft room could have used it (and probably re-used the last of some spray paint or fabric to make it attractive or cute looking).
Lastly, it probably could have been a great addition to any dorm room and saved someone some money.
Next time, dear resident, Freecyle!
